About this speaker
Lorna Mauney-Brodek is an herbalist, medicine maker, wildcrafter, and teacher focused on building community through herbalism. Working between Atlanta, Georgia, and Dublin, Ireland, she is the founder of Herbalista, a community-based initiative that has delivered free herbal care and education since 2013. What began as the Herb Bus, a free clinic out of her family’s VW camper van, has grown into a network of community projects, including the Herb Cart, Fire Cider Brigade, Grow-a-Row Learning Garden, and Dublin Herb Bike.
Herbalista operates on mutual aid principles, offering accessible care while fostering collaborative hands-on learning. Through the online Herbalista Free School and members’ Toolkit, they provide practical guidance, templates, and step-by-step resources to help communities launch herbal projects, share skills, and strengthen their local herbal infrastructure.
A member of the Irish Register of Herbalists, Lorna has been recognized by the American Herbalists Guild and the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (UK) for her contributions to community-based care. She believes that in order to preserve access to herbs as medicine, we must plant them, eat them, preserve them, dream them, and—most importantly—share them.
