Ceremony is the language of connection—between people, plants, and the Earth itself. In this session, Dr. Rocío Alarcón—ethnopharmacologist, Curandera, and director of the IAMOE Centre in the Ecuadorian Amazon—shares the role of ceremony and ritual in healing and daily life.
Drawing from her lineage of Curanderas in the Andes and Amazon, Rocío guides us through three traditional practices: the Limpia (cleansing with plants), candle ceremony, and bathing ceremony. Together, we’ll explore how rituals with fire, water, plants, and community restore balance, move stagnant forces, and help us remember our place in nature.
Dr. Rocío Alarcón, PhD in Ethnopharmacology, is Director of the IAMOE Centre in Ecuador. A Curandera with 45+ years’ experience, she teaches ancestral healing, master plant practices, and hummingbird medicine worldwide.
